Derek the Dinosaur

There are two things in life I take pretty seriously (apart from my wife, that is!) namely my photography and my music.  Photographing musicians is a mainstay of my photography and a number of them I think I can safely say have become friends.  One of the best amongst those is the great innovative jazz pianist Neil Cowley who I have photographed many times.  I had however failed to notice that there was a fourth member of his trio, namely a dinosaur called Derek who accompanies him to performances.  So the last time I saw Neil I felt it necessary to take Derek’s portrait and include him in the Music and Musicians gallery on my web site. I have presented him here in order to make up for my omission and to give him the exposure he deserves.  He was a great sitter who gave me no problem at all.

About Gerry Walden

I am a stock photographer with far more years of experience than I would care to mention. Located in Southampton (UK) I am sandwiched between two national parks and my home town is a major seaport. I shoot mostly people related images, and travel when I can. I am resident photographer at a major concert venue in the town which means I get to shoot a variety of musicians.
