RIP Abram Wilson

I am deeply saddened today by the death of Abram Wilson, a truly fine trumpeter, educator and man. I last saw Abram just before Christmas at the Turner Sims Concert Hall in Southampton when he appeared fine. It would seem that nobody knew he was suffering from cancer right up to the last but that is the type of man he was, always jovial and caring about others. He will be a sad loss to the music industry as a whole and to jazz in particular. I will take great comfort from the pleasure I had in knowing him and calling him ‘friend’ but he has passed at far too young an age. Maybe they just needed another trumpeter in heaven, and he will join that great jazz band that is there already.

About Gerry Walden

I am a stock photographer with far more years of experience than I would care to mention. Located in Southampton (UK) I am sandwiched between two national parks and my home town is a major seaport. I shoot mostly people related images, and travel when I can. I am resident photographer at a major concert venue in the town which means I get to shoot a variety of musicians.
