Sabastiao Salgado

There are only two photographers work hanging on my office wall, namely Walker Evans and Sabastiao Salgado. The latter to my mind is the finest living photograph we have anywhere, and I remember vividly seeing an exhibition of his which simply blew me away with its sheer beauty – so much so that you can be overwhelmed by the images that you lose the message if you are not careful.

Salgado has just completed his last major project named ‘Genesis’ which has taken him 8 years and seen him travel the world. There are two interesting pieces about this project in the ‘Guardian’ today, and you can read them on this link. If you do not get time to read the article PLEASE look at the images for their sheer beauty.

I can’t wait to see the finished tome, but suspect it may be priced out of my pocket!  :>((

About Gerry Walden

I am a stock photographer with far more years of experience than I would care to mention. Located in Southampton (UK) I am sandwiched between two national parks and my home town is a major seaport. I shoot mostly people related images, and travel when I can. I am resident photographer at a major concert venue in the town which means I get to shoot a variety of musicians.
